The 2015 National Model United Nations conference in Washington DC truly opened my eyes. I really enjoyed participating in a simulation of the United Nations Environment Programme committee, where we passed a resolution on a universal climate agreement. The skills that I have acquired will stay with me for a lifetime and help me in whichever career path I choose.
One of the guest speakers at the conference told us to find out what we have a passion for and work for it. By the end of the conference I realized what my passion really is: to work within the international community. I have always been interested in international affairs and wanted to study international law but have always questioned whether that was the right career path for me. The conference took away any doubt I had about pursuing a career in international law. I want to help try to resolve the many different problems of the world. Model UN is more than a simple class. It has given me the confidence to become the international lawyer to which I have always aspired.
