The Pace University New York City Model United Nations program is strongly committed to an inclusive living, learning, and work environment where we welcome and embrace the diversity of our community. The program will not tolerate harassment, intimidation, abuse or violence of any kind directed to other students or me. The program aims to create, with you, a safe space for everyone to express themselves while respecting the rights and dignity of others. If you feel uncomfortable in the classroom with anyone’s behavior, words, actions or inaction, please notify either the Model United Nations faculty advisor or the Dean for Students. Note that in the Pace University New York City Model United Nations program we take seriously the following university policies:

Pace University is committed to promoting “an inclusive environment that is accepting and respectful of all people  regardless of their sex, gender or gender identity; race; color; national origin; religion; creed; age; disability; citizenship; marital or domestic partnership status; sexual orientation or affectional status; genetic predisposition or carrier status; military or veteran status; status as a victim of domestic violence, sex offenses or stalking; or any other characteristic protected by law federal, state or local law, rule or regulation.”

Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation

Pace University is strongly committed to maintaining a working and learning environment that is free from unlawful discrimination, harassment or retaliation.  The University is an equal opportunity employer and an academic institution which strongly believes that all employment and academic decisions must be made without regard to whether an employee or student possesses characteristics protected by federal, state, or local law and this Policy (“protected characteristics”).

All University officers, administrators, supervisors, staff, faculty members, students, visitors and applicants, as well as vendors, consultants and contractors with whom the University does business are prohibited from engaging in discrimination, harassment or retaliation in violation of this Policy.

If you believe that you have been discriminated against or subjected to harassment on the basis of any of the protected characteristics described in this Policy,  or if you believe you have been retaliated against for making a good faith complaint of prohibited discrimination or harassment or for participating in an investigation into a complaint or report of prohibited discrimination or harassment, you may report such incident(s) to the persons identified in the Complaint Procedure set forth below.

University officers, administrators and other employees with managerial or supervisory authority (e.g., supervisors, directors, managers, Deans, Department Chairs, etc.) – must report any discrimination, harassment or retaliation that comes to their attention, regardless of whether a complaint is made. All other University staff, faculty, students or third parties who have witnessed or learned of conduct prohibited by the Policy are strongly encouraged to promptly report it to the persons identified in the Complaint Procedure section of this Policy.

The University shall take prompt and appropriate corrective action whenever instances of alleged prohibited discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation come to its attention.  The University is committed to investigating all instances of alleged or suspected prohibited discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation, including anonymous complaints or reports from anonymous sources, even if the victim of such discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation does not make a complaint, does not want the matter investigated or does not cooperate with the investigation.

Students with Disabilities

If you have a disability for which you wish to obtain an accommodation or auxiliary aid for this course or any other course or program at Pace, you must contact the Coordinator of Disability Services located at the University’s Counseling Center in New York at 212-346-1526 or in Pleasantville at 914-773-3710. The Coordinator of Disability Services will evaluate your documentation and discuss the accommodations process with you, provide any necessary referrals, make recommendations for your plan of accommodation, and assist you in arranging the recommended accommodations with your professors and appropriate administrators. Professors are not authorized to make such decisions on their own, provide accommodations or aids prior to your arranging for them through Counseling Services, or to contact the Counseling Center directly about such questions.
